Congratulations!!!

I know I've been a bad blogger and am no where near being able to do it on a weekly basis again but I have some great news!!!

We wanted to welcome the newest member of our family!!  The King's brother Jared and his wife Melanie had their second baby girl today around 5:00 pm!  I heard the details but can't remember the exact time and everything.  I hear the delivery went well, especially for Mel, the baby came two weeks early!!  Jocelyn is now a big sister and I think she's going to love having a baby sister.  Congratulations again to the whole family!  We can't wait to meet the newest bundle of joy!!

Meet...Macy Jane Rush, born July 12, 2010.  6 lbs 7 oz, 19 inches long!

Isn't she just too pretty!!  Congrats again you guys, we love you so much!!

...and in with the new!!!!

The granite install is complete and I LOVE it!!  These guys couldn't have done a better job and the price was so right!

I'm in love with my kitchen and with the granite, I love my cabinets more and the floor ain't so bad either.  All though, there is a possibility that this guy could get us a smokin' deal on some flooring so we'll see what happens!  I couldn't be happier with it!

There are still a few things that need to be finished.  The King has to repair the wall in one place (because he opened his big, fat mouth and offered to do it even though wall repair was included in the price), and he needs to paint the portion of the wall that is now exposed because the backsplash is not as high as the tile was.  We also are still planning on installing hardware on the cabinets, and bead board on the island that we will be painting the same red that is on the walls.  I just have to do a little hardware shopping on the good ole internet, and price a few other places.

I know you just can't wait to see the granite, so a few of the process first......

My new sink that I absolutely love!

And, once again, what it looked like before...

Now, I have to say again, the price was wonderful, their attention to detail was fantastic and I couldn't be happier with the whole process.  If you'd like details, let me know.  I would recommend these guys to anyone and am planning on having them install our flooring if we decide to do it, and to do our bathrooms.  Love them.

So what do you think???

Out With the Old...

Wow, I almost forgot that I had a blog for a couple of weeks.  I hate not having time to blog.  I'll get right into the haps in fear that I might just start rambling about my crazy life!

Demo...

We demo'd the countertops in the kitchen today.  Granite install is scheduled to start tomorrow at 8:00 am.  Nervous, excited and I just can't wait!  I'm so worried that the granite will be installed and everything about my floor will look awful and disgusting.  I'm worried that these black cabinets will stick out like a sore thumb.  So worried in fact that I've spent about thirty minutes today pricing flooring, and measuring our square footage.  I have a bad feeling that the floor will be our next big project.  And when I say our, I mean the King's.  Let's face it, I'm a woman and just not allowed in any big projects around the house.  I always get pushed out.  Today I got pushed out by my brother, no demo for me.  I was the clean up queen.  Kind of.

In fear of rambling my insane thoughts, I'll just get right to the pictures...

Before the demo, the kitchen, all in one piece...

The first hit.

After a few more hits to the tile, and way too many annoying sounds coming out of my mouth, I was sent to Home Depot for a few supplies that were much needed, I mean that were never used but "needed" only at the time, I think they were trying to get me out of the house.

I came back to this...

Are you sick of seeing demolition pictures yet?  I know, it's probably only cool to me.  So to annoy you a bit more, here are a few more pics of the mess that was made.

This is my favorite picture of the demo process...

I just think it's pretty cool.

Bye, bye island countertop, it's been fun.  I've made a lot of cakes on you and owe you a proper goodbye.  Unfortunately, you are just laying in a heap in my backyard awaiting a trip to the dump.

My Mom stopped by and took a few pics of us workers.  There is something about ripping out countertops and getting your picture taken while doing it that makes you want to do the blue steel pose.

I think my brother wins this contest though...

And to finish it off, this is what it looks like tonight.
That's our new faucet sitting on the island.

I'll be taking more pictures tomorrow of the install.  I really can't wait.  I might not sleep tonight.  It feels like Christmas!

And in other news, we found out some very important information, we are lot 47.  I've always wondered.

Ahhhhh

You ever have one of those, ahhhhh feelings?  Well I'm having one right now.  Let me say write it again, ahhhhh.  I'm feeling good right now.  Let me give you a quick run down of everything that I did this week so that you can feel my ahhhh with me.

I had four orders this week.  Three cakes and a cookie order.  For this, I had to....make my dough, bake my cookies and decorate them on Monday.  Tuesday I bagged them, baked all of my cake and made three fondant 3D animals and a palm tree.  Wednesday, I crumb coated all of my cakes (after I had to rebake two - won't go into that now), iced them in their final icing and rolled out my Tiki guy.  Thursday, I decorated all of my cakes, it took all day.  From 9:00 - 9:00.  Every night this week with cakes, I've gone to bed between 1 and 2 in the morning.

I had no car all week.  Why?  The King's boss backed into his and it's been at the shop getting new doors, a bumper, and a paint job.  The car that The King has been driving is his "project" car because my Civic that he was driving took a dump a while back and needs a motor.  So to look on the bright side of this mishap, at least we only had to buy one door instead of two for his car...

I've been prepping all week for company coming on Sunday.  That means I'm trying to get all of my laundry done and the house spotless because that's how I do it.  We are also headed out of town early tomorrow morning for The King's family reunion out in Chowchilla.  It's at his cousins house and it is so pretty out there, we will be returning Sunday afternoon sometime with the King's parents.  They will be staying with us for a week.

Oh yeah, and to add to that, I worked for the folks all day Monday - Wednesday.  I got Thursday off instead of Friday this week but my Mom threw Friday in as well because she knew how much I needed to do.

You don't need me to add in all of the Mom duties that go with that as well.  You can just imagine.

So back to my ahhhhh moment.  I'm sitting.  I'm having a much needed beverage....

My cakes are all picked up and my errands are almost completely done.  The house is almost completely done.  The packing has not started yet but I still have time.  I have to make my lists first.  But having everything else done is my ahhhhh moment.  I guess the ahhh comes from the cakes being picked up and out of my thoughts and feeling that much closer to leaving.

So I'm going to leave you with one of the cakes I did for this weekend that I'm totally excited about.  I made a cake glow in the dark.  How cool is that????  This cake is for a teenager's party that will be completely lit by black lights.  I had been thinking about making the cake glow in the dark but didn't really want to put that much more time into it until my brother talked me into it.  So here is the cake.  The kid wanted a white cake with splashes of paint on it, they didn't ask for the glow in the dark.  I hand painted the big splashes of paint and then took my brush and soaked it and then flicked it all over the cake.  The name is Alex and I did it graffiti style.  I put it on fondant and handpainted it then piped the outlines.  Enjoy...

Yeah, that's pretty cool, here it is in regular light...

So, when we return, I should have pictures of the girls to post.  I'm charging my camera as we speak and I'm planning on bringing my video camera as well.  Word has it that there will be karaoke at the reunion and the hubby has been practicing.  He'd love it if I posted a video of him singing on here...;)

Hope you all have a fabtabulous weekend.  I know I will, as soon as I get everything finished!

The Dish is a Superstar

I was hoping that this post would be all about The Dish's little program that they had at school on Friday but it's not.  I spent all morning charging my video camera and not my camera.  What is wrong with me??  We get there, I turn on my camera and try to snap some pictures of the stage and.....nothin'.   Blah.  No pictures of The Dish's first little singing program.  I did take some with Gi Gi's but I haven't gotten any of those yet so it'll just have to wait.

Can I tell you how cute this little program was though?  Seriously I was all teary eyed after because of how cute she was and how proud of her I was.  They did three or four songs with some "choreography".  The Dish did much better than I thought she was going to.  All last week I kept asking The Dish if she was going to sing on Friday for all the parents.  She'd tell me no but that she was going to have pizza on Friday.  Then I'd ask her again what she was going to sing for me on Friday and she'd say, "Tick tock seven o'clock time to pray..."  Just the answer I was looking for, I think it's safe to say she didn't quite understand what was going on!

She didn't sing one word during the "concert" but she did all of the correct choreography.  I'm not surprised that she didn't really sing and was happy to see that there were only three kids that actually sang half of the words.  Plus the little boy standing next to the Dish had his arms crossed over his chest with a frown on his face the entire show.  He made The Dish look REALLY good!!  Proud moment for Mama.  I'm going to see if I can get the video up soon.

Friday was her last day of preschool kind of.  I signed her up for summer school and she starts back up right away.  In the fall she's starting 3 days instead of 2.  She's getting older I guess.

We had a pretty uneventful weekend.  The King worked all weekend and I had deliveries on Saturday and today I've been organizing, straightening, cleaning, etc.  We have The King's family reunion coming up this weekend that I'm so excited for.  It will be a blast!  After the reunion The King's parents will be following us back to our house and will be staying with us for a week before they head back up to Oregon.  That is why I've been organizing, straightening, and cleaning.  I told my Mom, the cake order taker, not to schedule me anything for this week since we're leaving.  I'd appreciate it if you would all ask her why I have one cookie order (due Tuesday) and three cake orders (for Friday) due this week.  I'd like to know why she wanted to do that to me when she knew that I had a reunion and house guests coming.  I'm starting to believe that she doesn't like to see me sleep.  Apparently she doesn't mind the crazy that I turn into.

I'll leave you with pictures of the cake orders that I had this weekend.  I also had a cupcake order but didn't get pictures of it because of the dead camera situation...

First up, bridal shower cake...

Next up, wedding cake, Celtic Irish themed wedding...

The cake sat directly behind the bride and groom. I sure hope those people don't mind that they are on my blog...
